SCENE

Two millennial couples are sitting in a New York City apartment, listening to music, and enjoying each other’s company. The couples, white and Black, respectively, begin to imagine what the future holds. They wonder aloud how marriage will impact their lives and if they’ll ever move out of the city. They wonder where they’ll be in ten years and if their bonds will hold strong. Someone mentions kids.

JAIME
I hope that things are always like this.

SARAH
Me too. Like when we have kids and you guys have kids. I hope that we can still get together.

JAYSON
What do you mean?

JAIME
You know, things will change. We’ll have less time and won’t see you guys as often.

JAYSON
I’m not worried. We’ll be the fun uncle and aunt. We’ll take them to basketball games!

KANDACE
And, give them Caribbean food.

SARAH
Yes! And, we’ll expose your kids to culture!
